Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Vivek Badrinath, CEO of GSMA. The meeting took place during the first-ever international forum in Uzbekistan, “M360 Eurasia 2025.”

During the dialogue, the parties discussed global trends in digital transformation, information and communication technologies, telecommunications, the deployment of next-generation mobile networks, 5G infrastructure development, and prospects for integrating artificial intelligence technologies.

The Minister detailed the reforms underway in Uzbekistan aimed at building a digital economy, improving the quality of digital services, and strengthening the national IT potential. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of international cooperation, including with global organizations such as GSMA, for advancing the country’s digital infrastructure.

GSMA CEO Vivek Badrinath praised Uzbekistan’s progress in the digital sector over recent years and highlighted the country’s potential to become a regional IT hub. He also outlined priority areas GSMA can support, including enhancing inclusivity through mobile connectivity, developing digital literacy, and strengthening cybersecurity.

The parties agreed to expand strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and GSMA, implement joint projects, and open new opportunities for international collaboration involving Uzbek mobile operators and startups. Practical steps were discussed for experience exchange, workforce training, and adoption of global industry standards.

The meeting took place within the framework of the “M360 Eurasia 2025” forum, regarded as a significant milestone in strengthening Uzbekistan’s international cooperation in digital technologies and its active participation in the global digital ecosystem.
